General Information
The Hartsdale Fire District provides fire protection and emergency services to the Hartsdale section of the Town of Greenburgh, covering approximately 4.5 square miles.
The District operates out of two stations:
Station 1: 25 South Central Ave, Hartsdale, New York, 10530
Station 2: 300 West Hartsdale Ave, Hartsdale, New York, 10530
Hartsdale Fire District has mutual aid agreements with neighboring departments to ensure a rapid response during high call volumes or specific emergencies.
When not responding to emergencies, duties include station and apparatus maintenance, community outreach and events participation, public education, building inspections, and ongoing training. Emergency incidents may alter daily routines.
Emergency Services
Always dial 911 for emergencies. Calls are dispatched through Westchester County Emergency Communications.
Yes. The Hartsdale Fire District provides emergency medical services (EMS) and works in coordination with other local emergency responders, including the Greenburgh Police Department, to ensure rapid and effective response.
Firefighter respond to a wide range of calls, including:

Community & Public Services

Absolutely. The Hartsdale Fire District is proud to be a part of the community and participates in local events, parades, and public educaiton programs throughout the year.

Fire Prevention & Safety
Yes. The District provides fire prevention services, including inspections and public educaiton to help keep residents and businesses safe.
We recommend:
- Installing and maintaining smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Creating and practicing a home escape plan
- Keeping fire extinguishers accessible
- Avoiding overloaded electrical outlets
Employment & Careers
Firefighter positions are typically filled through the Westchester County Civil Service process. Candidates must meet all county and state requirements and pass the appropriate examinations.
Transfers are subject to civil service rules, District policies, and available positions. Candidates must met all applicable requirements.
Administrative & Billing
The Hartsdale Fire District is a special district funded through property taxes within the district boundaries.
The District is goverened by an elected Board of Fire Commissioners who are responsible for oversight, budgeting, and policy decisions.

Operations & Transparency
Yes. Board of Fire Commissioners meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend.
Meeting documents are typically posted on the District website or available upon request about two (2) weeks after the meeting.
